Another guitarist who shredded themselves into oblivion was punter favourite, Melody Angel. If I had a dollar for every time I heard a person bragging about this guitar slingin’ goddess from the US this week, I’d be one seriously rich woman! With class, athleticism, and an abundance of soul, Melody is equals part Prince and Hendrix, one insanely talented vocalist and player. Her set was packed full of energy and left the crowd reeling after each of her performances.

Word got round the festival early on that a phenomenal new talent was on the rise and the name Melody Angel seemed to be on everyone’s lips. Some of us who had left it to the last day to see her were feeling some trepidation but she lived up to her hype.  With a warm, engaging presence and terrific crowd rapport – she blasted the roof off with her cover of Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” – her voice and guitar playing superb.

Melody Angel, a true find at this festival, was joined by her Mom on vocals and Angel praised her skills as a single mom keeping her safe and out of the hands of the police. Angel was a virtuoso on guitar taking us from Hendrix to Chuck Berry blended in with her own fine compositions. She stated at one point this was the ‘best day of her life’ playing to such a large audience after only playing clubs in the Chicago area, and you knew she meant it.

Kicking off festivities was Chicago firecracker Melody Angel, who won over hundreds of new fans through gritty, blues encrusted rock

Highlights of Monday were Melody Angel who impressed folk so much, I suspect her record sales just went through the roof. Melody Angel – who is setting everyone on fire!

Angel’s expressive playing is akin to flying a Dragon, approaching that moment where freedom borders right on the edge of control, and the rider is within a hair of chaos, but reins it in enough to keep it together. It’s a beautiful thing to behold, especially in a player so young.Besides her playing, what makes Angel such a powerful performer, is her strongly impassioned vocals. We can’t wait to see her continue to grow. What a future she has! If you get a chance to catch Ms. Angel live, do it!

She took all guitar duties herself on the night, providing an excellent platform for her phenomenal voice. The reaction Melody received from the audience was outstanding with shouts for “one more song!” and standing ovations — not a bad start for a Legends’ debut.
